One of the most popular and successful ways of offering a student or graduate from The University of Manchester a great start to their career is to get involved in one of our internship programmes.
The Manchester Graduate Internship Programme (MGIP) provides alumni with a route to recruit a graduate on a contract or internship of between four and twelve months. It’s an ideal way of covering maternity leave, getting a fresh pair of eyes into the business or assessing a potential recruit over an extended period. The MGIP team will provide advice, guidance and added support throughout the recruitment process including job description writing, advertising and help with shortlisting and making the interview arrangements. There is no fee other than the graduate’s salary and no expected commitment beyond the internship. MGIP can therefore be a low-cost (internship salaries being around £15-16k pro-rata for non IT and technical roles) and a low-risk way to recruit; at the same time providing a new graduate with some valuable work experience for their CV.
In addition we run a summer internship programme, helping businesses recruit students for summer opportunities of around three months (both part-time and full-time work) which can be a useful resource to cover staff holiday absences, specific project work and helping with busy seasonal peaks in trading.
To find out more about either internship programme or if you would like to discuss other recruitment requirements just contact the team via firstname.lastname@example.org or phone us on 0161 275 4041. We look forward to hearing from you.
In addition to schemes mentioned above, internships form a fundamental element of many of our degree programmes. To find out if your organisation could host a University of Manchester student contact email@example.com.
